Communicator, connecter, creative problem solver.
I started my professional life as a journalist and have been exploring the relationship between media and society since then. Beyond writing, I generally love creative problem solving and providing strategic advice to organisations - which is what I’ve been doing in order to tell the story of Mundus Journalism for the past five years. I am also a Hostwriter ambassador and occasionally write, edit and talk on topics related to diversity and representation in the media.
Bachelor of Communications Studies, major Journalism. Auckland University of Technology, 2010
Master of Arts (distinction) in Journalism, Media and Globalisation, major Media Across Cultures. Jointly awarded by Aarhus University and University of Hamburg, 2016
MA thesis: A case study of the blurring of boundaries between journalism and advocacy in the South Pacific. A section of my thesis was published in Q1 journal Journalism Studies - you can download it for free by clicking the link. I jointly received the Dallas Smythe Memorial Award for a conference paper on the same topic from the International Association of Communications Researchers, at the 2017 conference held in Cartagena, Colombia.
